Assassin's Creed Unveils Surprising AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising partnership that defies traditional predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Disclosed
According to the authorized statement, "A strange confrontation draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where hints of banned ceremonies and monstrous transformations resonate through the shadows." The plot introduces a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a clandestine cult.
The mission centers on "peculiar tests and a terrifying foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Transformations
The preview highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a striking moment showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Additional Material
Players who successfully complete the mission will acquire an exclusive katana alongside multiple items secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Exclusive implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Update
This patch also introduces the game's latest free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Past Anime Partnerships
This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that clearly nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
