19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a former number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's first championship since the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from that period of the previous year.
Success also means he has secured 21 championships at 21 distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.
The player's defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.
Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
He came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.
Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a final set.
He rescued four early opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
